Ho sempre apprezzato in passato questo prodotto, tanto da aver scritto alcuni whitepaper per loro. Negli scorsi giorni StarWind ha annunciato la nuova versione 6.0 del loro prodotto di punta iSCSI Software SAN. In questa nuova versione ci sono alcune interessanti nuove funzionalità:
- architettura in High Availability (HA) a tre nodi
- Gestione completa dei nodi HA. E’ possibile aggiungere nodi, rimuoverli o sostituirli a piacimento senza intaccare lo storage cluster
- High availbility può utilizzare qualsiasi tipo di device StarWind: deduplicated device, thin-provisioned IBV device, o DiskBridge device, mixando tra loro le tipologie

Se possedete una delle seguenti certificazioni/riconoscimenti: VMware vExpert, VCI, Microsoft MVP, MCT, CTP, o CCI, Starwind offre gratuitamente fino al 30 settembre una licenza NFR, ovvero liberamente utilizzabile per ambienti non produttivi.
Starwind è una soluzione storage software basata su Windows che può trasformare un comune server (sia macchine con dischi interni che usati come frontend per altri sistemi SAN) in una SAN iscsi.
Avevo testato tempo fa il loro prodotto (potete leggerne la recensione in questo pdf) e mi era piaciuto; avevo inoltre realizzato un whitepaper dal titolo “Best practices for backing up virtual servers with Veeam software and StarWind storage“.
