EVC e le modifiche al bios

EVC è l’acronimo di Enhanced VMotion Compatibility, e quando abilitato su un cluster permette di utilizzare vmotion tra nodi esx con processori diversi tra di loro.

Quando si modificano dei parametri di bios o si sostituisce una motherboard, evc può smettere di funzionare. Questo avviene perchè vCenter registra i valori di un nodo esx relativi a evc solo in fase di aggiunta del nodo al cluster, e non li aggiorna mai. Ragion per cui, se dovete fare questo tipo di operazioni, dovrete purtroppo togliere il nodo esx dal cluster, applicare le modifiche al bios che volevate, e aggiungere nuovamente il nodo al cluster una volta riavviato.
