Nuovi driver paravirtualizzati o FT?

Avrete letto anche da alcuni miei post del sostanzioso incremento di performance che i nuovi driver paravirtualizzati per i controller dischi (PVSCSI) e la rete (VMXNET3) sono in grado di garantire.

Già sapevo del fatto che non si poteva effettuare il boot da un disco connesso al driver PVSCSI, ma molti blogger avevano suggerito di tornare alle configurazioni di anni fa che già si usavano per i server fisici, con un piccolo disco di boot su LSI Logic e il resto dei dati sul nuovo PVSCSI per sfruttarne le performance.

Che c’entra FT in tutto questo? Beh, è semplice: se usate uno qualsiasi di questi due driver in una VM, non potete abilitare FT…..

Dovete scegliere, performance o protezione. Attualmente non potete avere entrambe…
