VMotion e i processori Intel 45nm Core 2

Vi riporto un nuovo articolo comparso sulla knowledge base di VMware, che dimostra ancora una volta come bisogna prestare moltissima attenzione ai vari modelli di processori installati in un cluster, e sfruttare quanto più possibile tool di verifica come CPU Host Info, di cui ho parlato tempo fa.

Questo problema affligge sia le versioni 3.0 che 3.5 di ESX e i corrispettivi vCenter, e riguarda i processori Intel della serie Xeon 5460, e si manifesta con un errore di VMotion che segnala un’incompatibilità tra gli host di partenza e destinazioni quando questi contengono entrambi pocessori Intel 45nm Core 2 (Harpertown) ma con differenti stepping.
