Il boot di ESXi 4.0 da chiavetta usb

In questo articolo di Dunca Epping ho trovato la procedura più semplice e meglio descritta per ottenere una chiavetta avviabile con dentro vsphere. Vi riepilogo i vari passaggi da realizzare su un pc con Windows:

  • Download di VMware Player
  • Download di ESXi
  • Installare VMware Player (next / next / finish)
  • Creare una nuova VM e connetterla alla iso di ESXi
  • Inserire una chiavetta USB
  • Effettuare il boot dalla iso di ESXi
  • connettere la chiavetta usb alla VM e selezionare “mass storage device”
  • Selezionare il supporto usb quando viene chiesto “Select a Disk”
  • Next, Next, Finish

Avrete a questo punto un’installazone generica di ESXi 4.0 su USB. Vi resta soltanto da configurare il sistema.
