Storage Field Day 4: CloudByte

I’ve been invited as a delegate at Storage Field Day 4 in San Josè, California. The first vendor we met was CloudByte.
CloudByte is a company partly indian and partly american, with offices both in Bangalore and Cupertino. Their main product is ElastiStor: it’s a software only solution able to transform a server with some local storage (or connected to a remote storage) in a storage array. Several ElastiStor machines can be connected together to form a distributed, scale-out storage.

Sono stato invitato a partecipare in qualità di delegato allo Storage Field Day, nella sua quarta edizione in quel di San Josè, California. Il primo produttore che abbiamo incontrato è stato CloudByte.
CloudByte è una società mista indiana e americana, con uffici a Bangalore e a Cupertino (California). Il loro prodotto principale è ElastiStor: è una soluzione completamente software che trasforma uno normale server dotato di storage locale (o collegato a uno storage remoto) in uno storage array.

Veeam Backup & Replication 7.0 R2 is out, with support for vSphere 5.5 and Hyper-V 2012 R2

Veeam has just released their new version of Veeam Backup & Replication, named 7.0 R2 (build number 7.0.0.764). Besides being the first release to use this new numbering type, the last release of their flagship backup software has some new important features: the first and foremost is the official support for the latest virtualization solutions, that are VMware vSphere 5.5 (along with vCloud Director 5.5) and Hyper-V 2012 R2.

E’ arrivato Veeam Backup & Replication 7.0 R2, col supporto per vSphere 5.5 Hyper-V 2012 R2

Veeam ha da pochi minuti rilasciato la nuova versione di Veeam Backup & Replication, denominata 7.0 R2 (build number 7.0.0.764). Oltre ad essere la prima versione ad usare questa particolare numerazione, l’ultima release del famoso software di backup introduce alcune importanti novità: la prima e più importante è il supporto per le ultime piattaforme di virtualizzazione, ovvero vSphere 5.5, unitamente a vCloud Director 5.5, nonchè Hyper-V 2012 R2.

Powering the Cloud 2013: Quantum DXi

During the last “Powering the Cloud” event in Frankfurt, I had the opportunity to privately meet some exhibitors. One of them has been Quantum. I talked about their solution called DXi with Stéphane Estevez, Sr. Product Marketing Manager EMEA.
Quantum is well known for its tape archiving solutions. However, they recently expanded their portfolio with other solutions, all related to Data Protection. Specifically, during the meeting we talked about Quantum DXi.

Durante la mia recente partecipazione all’evento “Powering the Cloud” a Francoforte, ho avuto la possibilità di avere degli incontri privati con diverse società presenti. Una di queste è stata Quantum. Ho avuto modo di parlare approfonditamente circa la loro soluzione DXi con Stéphane Estevez, Sr. Product Marketing Manager EMEA.
Quantum è storicamente nota per le sue soluzioni di archiviazione su nastro. Recentemente tuttavia ha espanso la propria offerta aggiungendo ulteriori soluzioni, tutte legate alla Data Protection. In particolare, durante l’incontro ci siamo focalizzati sulla soluzione Quantum DXi.
