vSphere dentro a Workstation

Duncan Epping sta giocando con un mini-lab virtualizzato sul suo notebook.

In un recente articolo ha fatto notare come il nuovo nato di casa vmware non ne voglia sapere di essere eseguito con meno di 2 Gb di ram, non solo in fase di installazione, ma anche in esecuzione. Questo diventa un vero problema nel caso di ambienti demo dove la ram disponibile scarseggia.

La soluzione trovata da Duncan e per cui lo ringraziamo è questa:

  1. installare vSphere con 2 Gb di ram assegnati
  2. entrare in service console e digitare:
    nano /etc/vmware/init/init.d/00.vmnix
  3. modificare il seguente parametro come desiderato:
    RequiredMemory=2064384
  4. spegnere la VM, variare la ram assegnata e riavviarla

C’era da scommetterci che era solo un limite imposto. Bravo Duncan!!!
