A quick post to announce you the availability of Patch 1 for Veeam Backup & Replication 7.0.
the new patch raises the build number from 7.0.0.690 to 7.0.0.715 (so check the build numberafter the upgrade). An important note, this patch DOES NOT introduces support for vSphere 5.5 or Hyper-V 2012 R2, support for the latest releases of the two hypervisors will arrive by the end of 2013 with a new minor release.
There has been as usual some bug fixes, and some improvementes. For the complete list of the fixes and in order to download the patch, have a look at Knowledge Base 1823.
Even if usually patches are made to solve problems, there has been nonetheless some enhancements that I like to highlight:
– VM snapshots should now be created concurrently in scenarios when the job setup allows to backup multiple VMs from the same LUN. This decreases the time VMs will run off snapshot, and improves overall job performance: now many VMs stored in the same LUN are going to be snapshotted in vCenter at the same time, so the storage will need only a single LUN snapshot instead of a snapshot per VM.
– Tape job email report now includes barcodes and names of all tapes that were used in the corresponding job session: this is useful to catalog tapes before saving them offline, and then be able to quickly get the right one when needed.
